WFMW – craft party for 11 year old

I have two daughters, both born in December, and have the joy of two parties to organize just before Christmas. Usually we have the parties at home, a pyjama party with DVD, snacks and a craft activity. They enjoy the craft, and then they have it to take home instead of a party bag.

Last year these mini-albums were their craft.

This year we bought the supplies to make mobile phone charms (but they could also be used as key rings or attached to purses).

As well as the small attachments I bought some little charms (hearts, butterflies and Hello Kitty were the most popular) and a variety of beads. I also raided my own supplies to supplement the bead selection.

I used these mini muffin tins to sort and display the items needed.

The girls just needed some help to bend the end of the head pins to create the loops, then they could finish the item themselves.

Younger kids could probably manage too, but would need a bit more “hands on” assistance.

So that is my WFMW – what kids crafts if any have you tried at parties – please share.

On to other news, and I have two digital scrapbook layouts to share…..and neither are for me!

One is for Antique Mommy and was her prize from a giveaway I ran over at JM Digital Designs. I love the poem she wrote to go with this stunning photo.

This one is for Leanne, a fellow Northern Ireland blogger. When I saw this beautiful photo of her daughter I knew exactly how I wanted the layout to look on completion.

There will be a chance to win another of my layouts coming soon to a famous US blogger on Thursday! If you don’t already read her blog YOU SHOULD! All will be revealed on Thursday……..

Our house is slightly quieter (and tidier!) this week as our eldest daughter (who had the aforementioned craft activity at her birthday) is away on her school trip of outward bound activities this week in the Mourne mountains. The forecast is for freezing temperature and dry weather. Looking forward to having her home again. I suspect she will be very tired and very muddy.

  3. For my youngest daughter’s birthday this past summer, we made hydrobraclets … where you have thin plastic tubing and insert small beads and a little water.

They were OK – didn’t come out exactly the way I wanted but it kept the girls busy!

    Love your layouts!

  4. This is a really great idea! My son is having his birthday in a couple of weeks and I bet I could tweak this idea to fit boys. πŸ™‚

    Thank you!

  5. Those are the most adorable phone beady things! I would LOVE to have one on my phone. Any chance I can come to the next party?! πŸ˜‰ You’re awesome! And I only have boys, so I can’t have parties like that! πŸ™‚

  6. What a sweet and fun craft – I’m sure they loved making it! I had a friend make me something dangly like this and we turned it into a chain-pull for our ceiling fan which had a pull too short. We used to have to stand on a chair to get it running, now its a pleasure to be able to just pull on it and its also pretty to look at!

The muffin tins are a clever idea for sorting, but mine are nowhere near as shiny and new as yours… *wink*

Both of your layouts are stunning, and I agree with you about the poem… but I must say, the second layout is completely amazing. Its my favorite you have EVER done. If the kit you made it out of were offered up as a QUICK PAGE (by the kit designer) sometime *wink wink* I know I’d be the first to snap it up. You caught it PERFECTLY!

    Thanks for a great post!

And I just love the cell phone charm craft idea. And how organized you were with the muffin tins.

    Take care!

  8. Your layouts are just beautiful, and your posts are so interesting to read – they would be very inspirational too if I could manage anything except a needle and thread!! I think I’ll just admire instead of trying!
