A Baby Gift (Bread) Basket
My photo(s) for today involve a baby girl present, and the beautiful baby I delivered it to this morning.
First the gift.
As this new little baby is a second child in this family, but first girl, I know I wanted to give something along a pink theme, but also something quite practical. I decided to make up a gift basket of useful little pink things (we don’t have baby showers here, where that sort of thing would be given).
I wanted to be a bit more creative about what to put the items into, not a gift bag, but something which could be re-used. I went in search of a basket – and found exactly what I was looking for – a BREAD basket (in pink gingham).
Here is how it all looked together. It contained baby wash, socks, cute top, pink baby food containers with lids, and a very cute door sign (not practical, but it matched the pink gingham on the basket!),
I have never before purchased a bread basket for a baby, but I think I definitely will again. Her Mum will be able to use it in the nursery for now, it may hold her princess dolls as she grows older, then her make-up…..and maybe one day….even bread!
And now here is the gorgeous wee girl herself. She stayed asleep the entire time, despite my photo-taking!
Today I also want to share what I learned this week (Musings of a Housewife has a blog carnival on every Tuesday, pop over for a visit).
I mistakenly thought that the most embarrassing thing EVER would be to take a self-portrait and put it on my blog……I was wrong.
What is MUCH WORSE is reading all those lovely comments while cringing and peaking at my screen through my hands covering my face. I want to thank you for your kind words, but now I need to learn how to accept a compliment without wanting to hide – any ideas? I have always hated being the centre of attention, not even the centre, just on anyones’ radar!
I see Shannon will no longer be hosting What Works For Me Wednesday, so as a last farewell, I will link this baby bread basket idea to her carnival this week.
But have no fear because another of my favourite bloggers We Are That Family will be taking over. Thanks Shannon for all your hard work, and for ensuring this wonderful source of ideas will continue in safe hands.

I love the basket! What a great idea! She is beautiful!
I feel the same way about compliments, they are much easier to pay than receive! But what it makes me think is its because we are always so hard on ourselves. Perhaps if we could see ourselves through other’s eyes it would be easier to accept.
What a terrific, sweet and thoughtful gift and … awww! What a darling.
A lovely post to with those gorgeous photo’s.
