Summers End at Downhill Strand, Northern Ireland
This afternoon we headed over to part of the North Coast of Northern Ireland which we don’t visit so often, the beach at Downhill, just beyond Castlerock.
Downhill beach is a 7 mile stretch of golden sand from Magillan Point to Mussenden and apparently is one of the longest beaches in Europe. It was a breezy afternoon, and we had the beach almost to ourselves.
The beach provides stunning views of Mussenden Temple.
Despite it still only being August, our middle daughter started her first day at her new school yesterday – it was only a half day however, and by mid-afternoon we were back up at the cottage, and headed over to Ballycastle for icecream last night.
Here she is her in her new uniform
So with a brief reminder of the school term starting properly next week, it was lovely to be on the beach this afternoon. Summer is not quite over yet!
Hi JM,
I can’t imagine school being back in already – my Mr. is surely dreading it already, the teachers had a strike vote before summer and are coming back with some restrictions on what they will do. Not a very nice way to begin.
Thank you once again for sharing your brilliant photography – a visit here is like going to a gallery 🙂
Love, Barb
The kids are just getting so grown up!
Everyone here – well up north are dealing with the hurricane and I am so ready for the fall!
Blue jeans and sweaters!
That beach looks heavenly also- so peaceful!
Children looks so cute and happy with your bonding moments together. I love the background of the pictures.

Like your beach shots – it must be a wonderful place there
