My Mother’s Day and THE WINNERS!
First my Mother’s Day, then the winners. (if you can’t wait – skip to the end, read, and come back, please!)
I was woken at 7am by 3 kids with an array of cards and gifts – including a lovely jewelry stand (which I will share later in the week), a Ronan Keating CD – Songs for My Mother, a hand painted picture frame and a little handmade box of Cadbury Mini-Eggs.
I was later served pancakes and a cup of tea in bed, which I ate while catching up on my blog reader!
In church this morning, there was also a focus on mother’s with various activities for the kids.
At one stage however, Brian (our minister) asked for some kids to bring up their mums to the front. There was not exactly a stampede, but 3 of use went up eventually, and were promptly sent out to wait in the hall. We imagined all sorts of embarrasing things which might follow, out of the mouths of our kids……but it was not too bad.
We were asked a question and given 3 choices, and we had to identify which of them our own kids would have chosen.
Examples included – How would your Mum choose to spend a “day off”?
One was “Which of these does your Mum say most” – Tidy your room, help with the dinner or pick up the toys? I asked – “Can I only pick one?!!!”
After church we went to have dinner with my parents, and one of my brothers and his son were there too. We had a lovely meal, and in the afternoon we “relaxed” (dozed!) while the kids played.
This was the table centre-piece on the dinning table – beautiful shades of helliborum from my parents’ garden.
Here is the card I made for my Mum – The photo was taken in Portrush nearly 40 years ago – eeek!
