3 Things you didn’t know about me and Lessons Learned
I like to be productive with my blog posts, and where possible combine several topics in one post. This may contravene Bloggy Rules 101 – keep posts short, relevant and on ONE topic….but feeling rebellious today!
The 3 things you didn’t know about me (and maybe didn’t know you wanted to know!) are part of this weeks McLinky Blog Hop Extravaganza, with more blogs to visit than you could ever imagine.
Random Fact 1
I love kiddie sweets – give me fizzy cola bottles, strawberry shoelaces or midget gems any day over a huge expensive box of chocolates.
If I do eat chocolate, I prefer Galaxy (which I believe is the same as Dove chocolate in US)or a Cadbury’s Starbar
Random Fact 2
My first trip on an airplane was also my first holiday without my parents, when I was 16. My brother, cousins and I flew to US for a church camp and to tour around a bit, staying in the homes of church members who willingly offered to accommodate us.
We stayed in New York City, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis (where the camp was), Syracuse (yes, Creative Junkie – I was there!) and back to New York.
We had one night on our own, when we took a detour to see Niagra Falls, and stayed in a motel on the Canadian side. We felt very grown up that we had managed to get there without getting lost, or lose our money, despite leaving our room key ON THE OUTSIDE of the door all night!
Random Fact 3
My husband has such an unusual combination of middle names, that when we got married, I suggested that we would use first names only on the wedding invites and in our vows! Fortunately he agreed 🙂 The McLinky list is at the end of this post.
Now on to Lessons Learned
Lesson 1
We are continuing to have a great holiday up at our holiday cottage on the north coast of Northern Ireland. I have learned that is does not matter which beach we visit, as long as paddling is involved!
I learned that there is still a thrill from seeing your digital scrapbooking layouts published in a REAL magazine (i.e. is available to physically buy in a REAL shop!) even if you have not made the front cover. This month both these layouts were included.
The magazine is Scrapbook Insprations, and both these layouts were created using digital scrapbooking products created by Weeds and Wildflower Designs.
Lesson 3
I learned that it does not matter how careful you tell your 4 year old that he MUST look after his glasses….. (seen here modeled on the beach)
…because one day HIS FATHER will set the aforementioned glasses on the roof of our car which attaching the bikes to the bike rack, then drive off and the glasses will never be seen again!
Lesson 4
I learned my son is EVER SO SLIGHTLY competitive – here he is having snatched victory during a family game of Tumblin’ Monkeys!
So what about you – any lessons learned or random facts to share.

Doin the blog hop and just had to say..
HELLO from S.C! 🙂
I love kiddie candy too!! Hello from the Blog Hop!
You’ve got alot going on up there in that post. I’ll have to come back to absorb it all. Great picts as always!
Hopping over to say hi! The beach always makes everything good again! I love kiddie sweets too. Sour Patch Kids and Sweet Tarts – yum!
I emailed you but, it must have not got through. Where is the best place to start digital scrapbooking and/or learn more about it?
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I loved your post and reading all the info about you.
It’s a sad thing that 4 year olds can be trusted more than husbands… Poor glasses!
The incident with the glasses sounds like something my husband would do! I swear the man can’t keep a pair of glasses or a mobile for more than a couple of months before he loses it.
I can’t believe you were THAT close to me (only 90 minutes away!!) and I didn’t know you then to scream THIS WAY, JANMARY – COME THIS WAY.
I’m not sure what midget gems or strawberry shoelaces (are those Twizzlers? LOVE THEM) but my thighs are very familiar with Dove chocolate – that stuff is sinful. I actually think it’s better than some of the hoity toity high class chocolate like Godiva. I love Dove!
Just hopping by to say Hi and visit your list!
