Handbags and more

Edited to add, the giveaway has been moved to a separate post HERE, after reading the rest of this post, and commenting (please) visit the other post to enter the giveaway. Thanks

This week my Show and Tell is all about bags and this birthday card was my inspiration for this post.

My lovely friend and neighbour at our cottage is a very talented knitter, and she made me this beautiful little black handbag for my birthday.

It is even lined, and with her own label inside.

The next bag is one a bought in a street market in Paris in May. It cost 8 euros (£5 or $10), and I love the shade of blue, the fabric and the shape. Costing so little, I was not sure it would last for long, but I have already more than got my money’s worth, and it reminds me of the wonderful trip.

Do you bring your own reuseable bags to the supermarket? I TRY to remember, and now have a great collection of various shapes and sizes.

My favourite however, have to be these new ones in Tesco’s designed exclusively by Cath Kidston. Each month there is a new design, they only cost £3.50, and they are made from recylcled plastic bottles. What is more, for every one sold they are making a donation to the charity Marie Curie Cancer Care, a wonderful charity.

So far I have bought two, and I look forward to seeing the rest of the designs (I believe there will be 3 more). Not only are they in gorgeous colours/patterns, but they are comfortable to carry, and may be even too nice to just use for supermarket shopping. I have already used mine for my library books and the beach.

I have one of the stripy bags to GIVEAWAY (and I haven’t used this one yet – promise!)

Finally, I found a quote to share with you about handbags by comedian Billy Connolly:

” A woman’s mind is as complex as the contents of her handbag: even when you get to the bottom of it, there is ALWAYS something at the bottom to surprise you!

  10. All great bags and I love the quote. I haven’t gotten one of the re-usable bags yet but we do shop at a store where we take our own paper bags back and re-use them.

I love the bright colors in the re-cycle bags. Really such a wonderful thing to do.

  11. Beautiful bags, I love the little black knit one, it’s beautiful. I try to recycle my bags but this would make it easier, especially if you left some in your car.

    Have a Fantastic Friday!

  12. I LOVE that birthday card! I make my own cards sometimes and I’m definitely going to remember this one!

p.s. When I came downstairs this morning, FirstHusband said, “I like that JanMary in Ireland.” He had gotten up this morning and read blog comments before coming downstairs himself. Before 7:30 a.m. he had already serenaded the kids with “Some Enchanted Evening” and told my son that “this isn’t a hotel.” I think he’s building his own idiom list. (by JSM)
