New Beginnings
This title sounds like the name of a digital scrapbooking kit! Alas, no, I have not started designing my own kits. Much too difficult, I prefer to use other peoples’ stuff.
So how was you New Year? We had a quiet New Years Eve, apart from our neighbour who came round and was coerced into some Wii-ing. Watched the crowds in London watching the fireworks, listened to Big Ben strike midnight, and decided it would definitely not be fun to be in the middle of those huge crowds in the cold wind and rain.
I don’t usually make New Years resolutions, but if I had this year it should have been this:
DO NOT EXPERIMENT WITH THE MENUS ON YOUR NEW CAMERA WHILE WAITING IN THE CAR, AND DEFINITELY DO NOT PRESS THE FORMAT CF CARD FUNCTION WITHOUT FIRST REALISING THIS WILL DELETE ALL PHOTOS ON THE CAMERA!
Oh well, I will live and hopefully learn! Fortunately no precious photos lost, just a few (hundred?) of the beach, the waves, the river…..while I experimented with various settings on the camera. However, I can pretend they were the most AMAZING photos ever, and like the fisherman who tells of the fish that was “This Big” but was also The One That Got Away. You believe me, don’t you?
Well, my disappointment was shortlived when we woke to snow the next morning. We missed the deep snow that fell at home, but there was a pretty covering and it was very cold, so I wrapped up and set off to take some snowy shots of the local landscape. I am sure it happens lots in colder countries, but this was my first experience of snow ON the beach and sand dunes.
Here are just a few of my fav photos of that morning:

Dunluce Castle (above and below)
The rest are all of Runkerry Strand at Portballintrae
Do you have a favourite from these photos? Let me know.
I know some of you just read my blog to hear the news of George the cat!
So here is some George news
George spent the few weeks over Christmas in his new second home, the vets! We visited him on 2 January, and warned the kids that George would NOT be coming -home with us. Of course, the vet said – “Would you like to take him home?” So George is back, still sporting the must have accessory for cats = a huge plastic collar so he can’t lick his wounds, and give them a chance to properly heal. This means he has to be kept indoors for now, but as you can see from these photos, he seems to be coping quite well, and his purring is as loud as ever! The girls insisted on tucking him in, but he didn’t seem to mind too much.
Finally, a layout! First for a few weeks, and my first Christmas Day 2007 layout. I did it for a scraplift challenge over at The Meadow.
That is me (sort of) up to date.
Take care until next time.
