Faces of St Patrick in Belfast, 2010
On St Patrick’s Day this week, I managed to see the St Patricks Day Parade/Festival in Belfast.
The city has made great attempts to make this an inclusive family day of celebration for all.
Here are just a few of the carnival participants. (There were lots of kids involved in the parade, but I won’t be sharing those on the blog).
Firstly a few St Patricks
The Deputy Lord Mayor
A few colourful characters (not sure of their relevance to St Patrick, but there had amazing costumers)
The local media were there in force
A Canadian pipe band led the parade
And a few more characters
More photos of Belfast on St Patrick’s coming soon – watch this space!
If you have a St Patrick’s Day related blog post then you might still have time to link it HERE ……there are prizes to be won!
Nothing like observing St. Patrick’s Day on an Irish bloggers post. I love the photos and all the green.
Happy belated St. Patrick’s Day to you!
Debbie
My husband absolutely LOVES LOVES LOVES bagpipes! I find that they give me a headache after awhile but he can listen to them for hours.
Love your photos!
We love parades. Sometimes the viewers are more interesting to watch than the participants. I remember your pics from last year and some of the colorful characters.
i’m from manila, so i only get to read about this holiday (it is a holiday, isnt it?). it’s great that you have shared what this day is about, complete with photos.
