Our House Swap Day 1 : Salthill and Renville, Galway

We arrived on Saturday afternoon after 170 miles of driving, to our home for the week, a house swap home in Craughwell, Co Galway.

It is a lovely large 6 bedroomed house with a huge garden, trampoline, wide screen tvs and lots of lego!

After dinner we set off to explore, and drove through Galway city to Salthill for ice-cream and a blustery walk along the promenade.

Today, after some yummy chocolate (yes, Lent is over) we headed for the nearby town of Oranmore and the lovely Renville Park (or is it Rinville? the spelling seems to alternate!).

It is a beautiful place to explore, with views of Galway Bay,

a great park, lots and lots of dandelions and bluebells,

 a beautiful wood,

some mystery white flowers (any ideas?)

lots more bluebells,

an old tower,

and abandonned mansion,

and some familiar kids!

The magnifying glass proved useful too.

So far it’s been a great swap, and despite assuring us they love the cottage, I do think we have the better deal!

More of our house swap experience coming tomorrow.

How have you spent your Easter Sunday, do share!
